New Shoe Love.

After the tip off from the ever fashionable Myra Callan of Twigs & Honey that Swank Boutique had marked all their Seychelles 50% off I quickly ran over and treated myself to a gorgeous pair of teal "Tippy Toes". They just got here today (SUPER FAST and free shipping!) and they are so beautiful and fit like a glove (or a sock I guess).

Seychelles are totally my go to shoe these days. I know they will fit, they look great and are withing my price range (especially on sale). I have been walking past the Target shoe section and saving my dough for pairs of these instead. I wore a pair of their seafoam green "Thank You Notes" for our wedding reception last summer.

Wedding Photo Update.

Hi again!

Just wanted to update you guys on photos from the wedding! I'm waiting to post photos since we want to submit them to Portland Bride & Groom Magazine. I don't want to jeopardize our chances of getting them published by posting them here, so I hope you don't mind waiting A LITTLE bit longer. I promise eventually I will totally spam the blog with lots of beautiful photos.

For now, here is my favorite photo from the reception of me and my new husband. Photos again by Christina Gilchrist who did a fabulous job. I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks,
Lindsey

On to the next event.

The wedding may be over (and I KNOW you are still waiting on a post-wedding photo post, but I really want to wait for professional photos) but the planning is not! We are planning a second "reception" of sorts here in Ohio to celebrate with our extended family who could not make it to Oregon. It will be very casual, potluck style and on October 3rd. It will be at Hudson Springs Park (see photo) where we had our first date and I'm hoping to have lovely fall weather and colors. I've already begun working on the details and can't wait to share them with you!

I'll be back with details soon! Happy September everyone!

Lindsey's Tips. Coming Soon.

I'm starting to get my thoughts together from the day of. Looking back there are so many things I'd like to share, things I wish I would have told myself before the wedding. I'm still waiting on professional photos from Christina before I share the details, but I do want to recognize all my amazing vendors and do a recap soon.

I've been super busy with the name change, working on real life (insurance, etc.) and getting my fall line at Lost & Fawned up and ready. I'm working on some new wedding posts to get up soon. I feel so awful I've been so MIA lately, but I'm sure you understand. ^_-

So getting back to business, I'm going to get back to work on posts for you guys. See you soon!

Married.

We are back and married! The weather was amazing, everything came together, everyone had a great time and best of all we are husband and wife. I'm holding off posting too many photos here until I get our professional photos and the official go ahead from our photographer as we are submitting them to some magazines (just local ones like Oregon Bride and Groom and Portland Bride).

I will be resuming regular programming for now (lots of wedding goodies) but stick around for my post wedding photos.

Thanks for the well wishes!

Signing Out: To Get Married

Sorry I've been so flaky about posting lately! It's just been a whirlwind since I got here and my mom and I have been super busy finishing up everything.

There is not much left to do! We stuffed out guest gift bags today an I am throwing the finish touches on things for kids to do, linens and welcome notes for the guests. Tonight we pack the car up for the coast and head out tomorrow morning after we pick up the hydrangea from a friend. Once we're at the coast we'll be setting up the tent and greeting guests!

Send good thoughts our way for good weather and no more shark sightings (that's right! They caught a great white yesterday in seaside. Only at our wedding...)! I'll be back online early next week! I'm not sure when we'll have photo teasers. I'll be sure to let you know how everything goes!

Welcome Buckets for Kids

My mom and I had fun filling buckets from ikea with goodies for my little cousins who are coming in from out of state. We filled the buckets with beach towels (ikea, only $2), ocean life finger puppets, books of animals from the pacific ocean, sand toys, beach hats, little bags for shells and more! They turned out so cute and I think they will really love them.

I also decorated some little containers of bubbles to give them at the wedding. They are super cute. I wrapped them in some extra fabric and added a ribbon (super quick and easy) and it instantly made the dollar store bubbles look a whole lot cuter.

Chalk Board Menu

Hi all! Now reporting from Portland, Oregon! Thanks for all the well wishes on my trip. Yesterday was the longest day ever (due partially to the time change of course).

Just wanted to share the BEAUTIFUL chalk board my mom scored off craig's list for our menu at the reception. I love the animal illustrations. It couldn't be more perfect. I'll be testing some different chalks on it this week to find one that works well on the old surface.

Leaving on a Jet Plane.

I'm getting on a plane to Oregon at 6:45 tomorrow morning! Only 15 days to go and time to finalize all the details! I'm going to miss my Jared and Logan terribly, but in 15 days, not only will we be together, but we'll be married! I just have to keep remembering that. As soon as I get off the plane I'm going almost straight into a fitting. Wish I could post pictures, but Jared still hasn't seen the gown. I've done a pretty good job keeping it a secret. I'm pretty proud of myself.

I'll still be updating from Oregon. So stay tuned for more!

DIY Update: Lounge Pillows

Just another DIY project update. I had extra fabric from the photobooth backdrop so I threw together a few pillow shams (one embroidered and one with the green fabric on the front). There are going to be some adirondack chairs in the yard in front of the beach so I think these pillow will be really cute on the chairs and make it feel a little loungier.

I did in fact finish the napkins (throwing my back out in the process from hunching over a sewing machine all weekend) and they turned out really cute. I'm working on finishing the bunting this afternoon as well as some shoe bags for my girls and some table runners with the rest of my extra fabric.

My dress fitting is saturday, make-up and hair trial on Thursday and other finalization meetings next week. I also found out my SUPER talented step-brother and his girlfriend will be doing the music for our ceremony. It will be acoustic guitar and harmonica. I'm so excited. More updates coming soon.

Lost & Fawned is on Vacation.

Hi all,

Some of you may have noticed my shop, Lost & Fawned is in vacation mode at the moment. Since I'll be flying home to Oregon on Saturday and will be busy busy this week trying to finish up the last of our DIY for the wedding I will be unable to ship. And since I'll be in Oregon for 2 and a half weeks without my jewelry kit I will be unable to fulfill orders while I'm there. I will be reading my convos though, so if you would like to start something custom we can start working out the details.

My pieces have been popular lately! Check out the two front pages I was recently featured in:

Lots of cool things happening for Lost & Fawned these days. Not only did I purchase www.lostandfawned.com (could that mean a future website? Perhaps!) but my soon-to-be-husband and I have been working on a collaboration store featuring our illustrations hand silkscreened on to apparal, bags, artpieces, etc. After the wedding that will kick into high gear. I'll of course be adding in some options for brides to be (custom out of town bags, bridal party-wear that doesn't suck, etc.). Stay tuned for details!

I'll still be updating this blog while I'm out west since I'll be working on lots of final details and will have time to make some posts.

Thanks guys! <3

Out of Town Bags

Jared and I were at a local Cleveland craft store and happened upon a bin of nice organic cotton canvas bags for under $2 a piece. We snagged all of them (about 16) and took them home. We spent an evening sketching out a design together. It was important to me that it would be a design that people would actually want to use after the wedding (as opposed to our monogram or wedding date) so we went a long with our bird theme and came up with a pair of birds hanging out on a Peony bush.

I took silk screening in college and Jared has dabbled with it a little as well so it was pretty easy for me to paint this thing into a screen and print them all in an afternoon. I love the way they came out and I think they will be so cute as beach bags for our guests. I hope there is one left for me after we fill them all for guests.

Shoes! Beautiful Shoes!

After weeks of searching I found them. The hunt for the perfect wedding shoe is over. I found my beautiful seafoam Seychelles on shoefly.com, the website of a shoe boutique in Seattle and know as soon as I saw them they would be perfect. I have difficult feet so I was nervous about the fit but as soon as I put them on (and they fit like a dream) I was a Seychelles shoe girl for life.

I also bought a pair of mint linen flats from urbanoutfitters.com for $30 as a ceremony shoe (if you think I'm going to try and navigate that staircase in heels you are greatly mistaken) and as a back up in case this pair makes my dress too short in the front. Both pairs are beautiful and something I can't wait to wear after the wedding. I am hooked on Seychelles. I love their vintage styling, comfort and coloring.

Our Napkins.

Just wanted to show you the finished product of our DIY napkins. We still have about a third to go, but thanks to the help of Jared's amazing mother and her sewing machine they are turning out beautifully. They will add so much color and pattern to our tables. All the fabrics were purchased from etsy suppliers on sale and cut and sewn by my future mother in law and myself. We will be encouraging our guests to take them home and what we are left with we will keep and maybe make a small quilt out of.

I had some fabric left over so I bought some cotton rope and threw together some simple bunting for the either the breezeway or the staircase down to the beach. I think it turned out really cute. I'll need to starch them when I get out to Portland so they hang nice and flat but it was super easy to make and cost me about $6 for 25 feet.

I've become a DIY addict lately. If you have any questions about how we did any of these, feel free to contact me and I can give you a hand.

Groom Footwear

We spend so much time these days searching for a fun shoes for the bride that sometimes we forget about the groom's poor feet! Grooms can have just as much fun with his shoes and socks as the bride. There are so many fun options for guys out there like boat shoes, oxfords and even a clean white pair of Converse Jack Purcells. You can also play with socks! Stripes, argyle or maybe a killer faux bois sock would be so fun for a groom as a little surprise when he sits.

We just purchased Jared's shoes from Zappos.com and ended up going with these cognac brown leather oxfords. They have a slightly old-school feel to them and will look balanced on his frame. I got him a pair of light blue and green argyle socks as well. I might be a beach wedding but that doesn't me he should be stuck in flip flops or barefeet.

More updates coming soon!

Only 25 days to go.

We're in the home stretch! The wedding is in 25 days now and things are starting to come together. From this point forward I'll probably be doing frequent wedding updates. I'll try and litter in a few additional posts as well.

Jared's new ring is here and it's beautiful. Still a tiny bit big, but it will do. I love the way they work together and harmonize. It's very reflective of our personal style and relationship. The ring is from Ball and Chain on etsy.

Lots of DIY and antiques coming soon! I'll be heading out to Portland on the 1st to start dress fittings, hair and make-up trials and final vendor reviews.

Envelope Liners - Easy way to spruce up your invitations

Looking for a way to take your invites to the next level cheaply and easily? Envelope liners are my newest obsession. They are cheap and relatively easy for a DIY beginner or veteran. It is a little time consuming, but not too bad. It's something you can do in front of the TV. Forgive me, these photos were taken before they were glued in.

We recived our beautiful goccoed invitations from Ugly Kitty last week and we adore them, but I just wanted to do something extra to make them a little more special. I remembered a tutorial I saw on Annie Get Your Glue Gun some months ago and headed to the book sale at our local library. As if it was fate, we found an old bird guide from 1918 that was oversized and falling apart. We bought it for $1 and I took it home and disected it. I followed Annie's tutorial to creat the template and after that it was smooth sailing. Added a little bakers twine in brown to hold all the bits and pieces together as well (super cheap, 10 yards for $7 on etsy).

Hope that helps some of you a little. I'm so excited to send out our invites. We couldn't be more pleased with how they turned out. I hope our guests appriciate the love that went into them. Have a lovely day everyone! Happy planning!

My Accessories

Our invitations aren't QUITE ready, but should be by early next week. So instead here are my other accessories (other than my earrings and bracelet which I've already posted).

Back when I purchased my Myra Kim Twigs and Honey pieces, they weren't in quite as high demand as they are today and I'm VERY grateful I purchased them when I did and as three separate pieces as I wasn't sure exactly what I planned to do with my hair. I'll be wearing two of these pieces tucked into the back of my hair so they are very subtle and saving one for my second reception.

My shoes were purchased a few months after I selected my dress and will look so lovely peeking out of the bottom on the beach. I knew I wanted something flat (I have enough trouble not falling on my face on a daily bases, let alone on a beach with heals) and gold and when I saw these on Zappos.com I snapped them up right away. They are by Poetic License.Hopefully I will have more to show you later this afternoon. All my other accessories are under wraps until the big day (so Jared can't see them). If something comes in the mail today though I'll have to share this afternoon. We'll see!

Happy friday!

My Groom's Look

We finally ordered Jared's suit for the wedding. We knew from the beginning even though it was beach wedding he was going to wear a suit. And we knew that a black suit wasn't quite right for the feeling of our wedding. So we started hunting for a rentable suit in tan. The hiccup came when we finally found one, the smallest size they carried in pants was a 32 waist. Of course those had the horrible adjustable waist and he and his brothers would have all ended up looking ridiculous (add the fact the fit to the broadest measurement on the jacket and his broad shoulders would have caused him to be swimming in his jacket). So we decided to purchase Jared a suit and have the groomsmen wear this alternative.

This week we made a point to order Jared's suit only to find the original one we wanted was on back order until 4 days before the wedding. We were going to settle with a alternative fitting pant when I checked JCrew's sale section and found this suit. The Irish Linen Aldridge 3-button suit Jacket with the Suit Vest and Classic Fit Suit Pant, all on sale! To top it all off we had found a 20% coupon and saved even more. Jared is so happy that it's a 3-piece suit (he looks great in a vest) and I know he'll be happy with the extremely breathable linen in August. We'll have to make sure it's nicely pressed (as linen does wrinkle) but I think it was the right decision.

Now to find a good tailor and a nice crisp white shirt.
