Garters by Peterene Design

I don't know about you all, but it when it comes time to find a garter, it can be difficult to find ones that don't look super cheap but are reasonably priced. I found a lot of beautiful ones, but they seemed to be a lot higher in price than I was willing to pay for something that is going to end up under my dress. That's when I came upon Peterene Design on etsy. Her work is beautiful and range in style from very clean and modern to ultra frilly and frou frou. She is also very easy to work with and does a beautiful job customizing anything in her shop OR creating something just for you (the one in the picture above was fashioned for a bride from a photo of their venue city and their flowers). Her prices are also great! I got my "something blue" garter for only $13 and when it got here and was a little more ivory than i expected she GLADLY exchanged free of charge. Thanks Peterene!

Brides in Shades

I think one accessory a lot of brides forget about until it's too late is sunglasses. It's not just practical, it can be a way to add some fun to your wedding ensemble. These photos are from Kaci and Brandon's beautiful wedding which was featured on Style Me Pretty this summer (Photos by Lisa Dick & Dawn Heumann). There are a lot of great pairs on etsy and ebay. White pairs are great, but it would be amazing to find a pair in your wedding colors.

Here is the pair I just purchased for our August 15th beach wedding from Raw Goods on etsy. Hopefully it won't be too bright, but if it does get sunny I'll have these adorable babies to whip out and add a little sass to my look.

Calling all design-nerd brides!

Looking for and alternative to the typical initial tee? Appriciate the perfection of Helvetica? I just found these Helvetica Alphabet Tees on Rumplo and I think I'm going to have to get one with an "F f " on it for my new last name. Jared probably won't understand but it will make me smile.

Saturday Pallet One - Softened CMYK

Happy Saturday everyone!

Kat sent me a message when she saw I would be doing pallets and asked if I would help her pull together the elements of her wedding in a board and nail down some colors for her. She sent me an assortment of beautiful items, including her beautiful venue, OC by Oleg Cassini dress and amazing shoes. She knew she wanted blues with pops of yellow and pink. Some of the images she sent me had reds and even some browns mixed in as well. It may sound like a lot of colors, but in reality I think this is a great example of how a lot of colors can really work to create an event that doesn't feel matchy but coordinates beautifully. Tag! I'm it!

Well, I've been tagged! The lovely Kat over at Aevan Arts, who I'm doing an inspiration board for tagged me. I know I'm supposed to tag 7 other people, but I'm fairly new at this so I don't have anyone to tag. Haha. Anyways... here are my 7 facts anyways...

1. The reason we have so many birdie details in our wedding isn't just because we love them (or because they are trendy). My new last name will be Fowler ('Fowl' meaning bird) and we have a flock of finches! We have 3 chicks right now!

2. I'm a huge design nerd (I could even be classified as a design snob at times if you ask my future husband). Eames molded plywood chairs get me all hot and bothered.

3. I was a 5 time varsity letterman in high school. 3 times in cross country, 1 time in thespians (I was a national honorary thespian, 1235 hours in service on stage and off) and 1 time in choir (I was in chamber choir, women's choir, concert choir and swing choir).

4. I collect old dollar books from the library. There is just something about reading classics of old yellowing pages that really feels special.

5. I'm a huge Jane Austin fan. I'm working on my Elizabeth Bennet costume as we speak.

6. Berryblossom White tea from Tazo (which is made in my home town) is my favorite.

7. My favorite bands are The Decemberists, The Shins, Coldwar Kids, Radiohead, Hellogoodbye, Iron & Wine and Kings of Convenience.

Feather Your New Nest with West Elm

For those of you who are not familiar with West Elm, you ought to check out their website. They are a new chain of stores that carry modern home decor and we just got one last spring here in Columbus. They're prices are comparable with Crate and Barrel and the furniture and decor pieces are so clean and well designed. Unfortunately they are in limited cities and don't currently have a gift registry, but they have a wonderful website. They also have some great vases and serving trays on sale that could be a good deal for reception details.

More Bridesmaid Dresses from Anthropologie

I know some of you are probably tired of dresses, and even more so Anthropologie. But I HAD to post these when I got the new catalogue. They are so darling and would be beautiful for a fall or even winter wedding. How beautiful is that forest printed dress? I want to create a wedding around that one. So many beautiful colors and textures.

Our Invitation Preview.

As you may or may not know, we've been working with the wonderfully talented Renee over at Uglykitty who I featured yesterday, for our invitation set. She sent us the most recent proof set and with every revision we fall more and more in love with these. Here is a little preview. It's just the RSVP envelope, but how adorable is it? I think it really sets the tone for our wedding. Can't wait to see the final product. These have been a long time in the making and she has been so patient with me.

Anthropologie Bridesmaid Dresses
