Bridesmaid Dresses by Sarah Sevens

Here are my picks from Sarah Seven's shop for bridesmaids. She has a wide rage of colors from soft clean pastels to bright pinks. I love all the pleats, ruffles, tucks and trims. Check out her shop for more!

Dresses by Sarah Seven

I just wanted to take a few minutes to feature Sarah Sevens, an independent designer from my hometown of Portland, Oregon. Her gowns are drippy, dreamy and drapey. She uses recycled fabrics, laces, pearls and chiffon to create her pieces. I just can't get enough ruffles right now and it looks like she feels the same way.

Later I'll be featuring some of my favorite pieces from her collection that would make beautiful bridesmaid dresses.

Tres Fabu Bridal of Portland Closing.

For those of Portland brides in search of a dress, Tres Fabu will be closing (their last day being TOMORROW) and all their sample dresses are 50% off! Including Pronovias, Watters and Maggie Sotteros. You may find an amazing deal if you go today or tomorrow.

For those of us (including myself) who had a dress there, make sure you pick it up by tomorrow! I'm really glad I didn't end up getting our suits from them now.

It really is a shame though. I hate to see places like this go out of business due to the economy. They were so wonderful to me there and I wish all the wonderful ladies who worked there the very best. I found my dream dress with them and I can't thank them enough for their assistance. Especially Destiny, she was such a wonderful girl and was so helpful.

In other news, all deposits have been officially paid! Woot! And back to my paper I go. Have a great weekend!

Thread Dresses

Tomorrow & maybe Monday I'll be posting some of my favorite dresses from Thread. I just love the contemporary styling of their dresses and the unique use of material. Here is a little preview of some of the weddings featured on their website. I love the white seersucker bridesmaid dresses in the picture below. A perfect example of how the bride will stick out and look special no matter who is wearing white.

Gowns by Stephanie Madesh

I've been a big fan of Stephanie's gorgeous gowns for awhile now. She's now back on etsy an taking orders again. This gorgeous silk taffeta gown is my very favorite. She creates it just for you and would be gorgeous in ivory or white for a more bridal look (although the black is so dramatic!). It would also be so flattering on a variety of body shapes. Plus, a custom gown for well under $1000? Yes please! Check out more of her gowns at her etsy store.

PS: There is going to be a Project Runway Spoiler at 3:00 today... if you haven't watched it yet, you have been warned...

More Bridesmaid Dresses from Anthropologie

I know some of you are probably tired of dresses, and even more so Anthropologie. But I HAD to post these when I got the new catalogue. They are so darling and would be beautiful for a fall or even winter wedding. How beautiful is that forest printed dress? I want to create a wedding around that one. So many beautiful colors and textures.

Anthropologie Bridesmaid Dresses

Here are some more dresses from Anthropologie that would make the loveliest bridesmaid dresses. That plum one would be stunning for a fall or evening wedding. They are all so re-wearable too and cost about the same as a mid to low bridal salon's dresses. Here are a few more I love. Check out their website or catalogue for more.

(Bridesmaid) Dresses

Want to save your ladies a buck or two and find them a dress that is REALLY re-wearable after the big day? As most of you know, once the "wedding" label is tagged on to any item the price is jacked way up. Bridesmaid dresses are no different. It was really important to us to find something that didn't look "bridesmaidy".

We found these adorable little numbers at Anthropologie for just over $100 (on sale shortly there after for $60). Not only are the super cute (and flattering), but they were high quality, different, versatile and cost less than most of the "bridesmaid" dresses we had looked at elsewhere. I'm encouraging the girls to make it their own by wearing whatever shoes and jewelry they want. They are both so happy with it and look fabulous in it.

So don't be afraid to check out regular mall stores with your ladies! Anthropologie, White House Black Market, Banana Republic, J Crew and department stores have great dresses for the same price or less than "bridesmaid" dress designers. PLUS you can order them online or even buy them in store and take them home that day.

Shale Wedding Gown by Custom Bridal on Etsy

How stunning is this gown is custom made from Thai dupioni silk by Danielle at Custom Bridal on etsy. Silk gardenias and vintage glass beads from another wedding gown (great was to get your something old in there) adorn the neckline. The dress is fully customizable and only takes 2 months to have created just for you. I think the silhouette and shape are so flattering and it's so unique.

My dress for our Ohio reception.

Jared and I have started thinking about our Ohio reception now that the Oregon event is pretty well planned. We're having a BBQ at the park where we had our first date in Hudson, Ohio about a month after the wedding to celebrate with extended family and friends who couldn't make it to the wedding in Oregon. It's going to be very casual and crafty. We still want to have some wedding reception elements but didn't want to have a "mock wedding" since we will be already married.

A couple days ago I started browsing dresses for that reception. I certainly didn't want to wear my dress again (too formal). But I still wanted to look a tad bride-like. While browsing ebay I came across this stunner. I was immediately drawn to the lace. I'm such a sucker for texture. I think it will be so cute with my gold sandals from the wedding and a little fuzzy cardigan if it gets a bit chilly. Plus, it was a great deal and is something I can see myself wearing again and again. It was originally an Anthropologie dress and is brand new.

I'll share more details about our real wedding and our second reception as the months go on. Things are really starting to pick up now that we're less than a year out from the big day. It's so exciting. Time to start working on our Quebec City honeymoon!
