Save the Date or Invitation Telegram

I ran across this idea recently on a blog and LOVED it! Looking for something different to do for your invitations or save the dates that require very little effort from you with a maximum impact? Telegram Stop has now made it easy to send old fashioned telegrams in bulk! you can download their excel document, fill it out with the names and addresses on your guest list and send out beautiful telegrams with a killer envelope for $3.75 a person (bulk pricing). Great idea for a budget invitation, plus they practically do all the work for you (no addressing envelopes, putting invitations together, printing or postage stamps required).

Love this idea!

Great Shower Gift by Silhouette Blue

I found this adorable print when I was searching through invitations ages ago. I went back and looked around and found that they make it as a frameable print. It's customizable so it would be the most adorable gift from soon-to-be-weds or newly weds. The closet you can come to carving their name on a tree without hurting a tree. It also comes as an invitation suite or custom thank you notes. Find it here at Silhouette Blue's etsy store.

Here are a few more of Silhouette Blue's beautiful work:

Save-the-Dates are done. Vistaprint.com review.

Well, as promised here are our completed Save-the-Date cards (which are going out this week). Overall I'm fairly pleased. They weren't terribly expensive, but we did have to order 100 so we have a lot left over. The cutting was a little off, so some of the design that bleeds off on the right side would show up a little on the left side too. And the cutting in general wasn't very good (edges were rough and jagged) so I trimmed them up a little myself before sending them out. The printing quality was fair. Some cards were streakier than others and the colors are a lot lighter than they were supposed to be (vista, if you are reading this, you really should re-calibrate your printer!). But again, overall you get what you pay for and I'm glad they were done quickly and cheaply.

One more thing to cross off the list.

Calling all design-nerd brides!

Looking for and alternative to the typical initial tee? Appriciate the perfection of Helvetica? I just found these Helvetica Alphabet Tees on Rumplo and I think I'm going to have to get one with an "F f " on it for my new last name. Jared probably won't understand but it will make me smile.

Ugly Kitty - Wedding Invitations

As a design student the stationary was really important to me but I simply couldn't afford custom letterpress and don't have the time to do it myself from scratch (as much as I would love to). I happened upon Uglykitty's flickr.com album when I was looking for ideas back when I planned on DIYing them. Her style was exactly what we were looking for and I loved that they were gocco printed (since I screen print a bit on the side).

This summer we paid out deposit and have started the design process with Renee who is fabulous and so accomodating (even with picky brides like me). She is so patient and creative. I can't wait to see out finished invitations. Here is some more uglykitty eye candy. Check out her website, flickr.com album and etsy shop for more goodies.

PS: I also purchased one of her fabulous address boxes and I LOVE it. If she puts anymore on the market you ought to snatch one up.

West Wind Fonts

Don't lie. You know you have a few novelty fonts in your library. I stumbled upon these beauties at West Wind Fonts. These were my three favorites (besides "Little Days" which I had already gotten from dafont.com and use constantly, including in my wedding print items). Free and fun. What could be better.

Hammerpress Invitations

Wow. If I had all the money in the world these would be mine. After a good friend of mine directed me to their site I've been madly in love with the wedding invitations at Hammerpress. Naturally they only do custom work and every set on their website is so different you can tell they really reflect the couple's personal style and relationship. I love the set above on the left. I even used it as the inspiration for the board I created for Style Me Pretty's contest this summer.
