Vintage Cake Toppers

(Photo from Stacey Hess's photostream.)

I have always loved the idea of using an old family cake topper. They have such a nostalgic quality and they can be a great way to incorporate some family history into your reception. If you don't have a beautiful old heirloom topper in your family, there are plenty on etsy.com that are beautiful and well priced.

This one is from My Fred & Ginger on etsy. I love this one. If anyone out there is having a red and gold wedding I thin you've found your topper.

I think this quirky little piece from Babette Bistro is so fun. It's from the 1920's and I'm sure there is a great history in it. I love the little groom with his glasses.

I think these from Ktrever are so darling. They are ceramic and the little blue touches are so beautiful.

Happy Election Day

No matter what your stance is, I hope you make it to the voting booth today. This election is so important, not only for this generation but for our future children. Get out there and vote!

On a wedding note, how adorable would a set of these donkeys be as a cake topper for the uber-liberal? Thanks to Bunny With a Tool Belt for sending me this cutie!

Jared's Birthday Present.

I just wanted to share another piece from Goose Grease on etsy. I featured her custom cake toppers a while ago and fell so much in love with them I ordered a custom set of mini-dolls for Jared's birthday. A little ninja boy and a little pirate girl with long light brown hair and bangs. I still want a custom cake topper set from her for our second reception, but we'll see.

Happy Birthday Jared. I couldn't post these until you saw them yourself. Told you I wouldn't spoil the surprise!

Cake Toppers by Miss Avacodo

Lastly here are some of my favorites from Miss Avocado's collection of illustrations. She turned some of her beautiful illustrations into toppers attached to stakes which then are inserted into the cake. She also embellishes them with tissue paper, glitter and other mixed media items. After the wedding these would be so cute in a shadow box or scrapbook. Check out her shop for more info.

Elephant Cake Toppers by Bunny With a Tool Belt

These are some of the most unique toppers I've seen. Handmade by Hilary Pfieifer at Bunny With a Tool Belt these are made of wood and painted with food safe paint. They stand 5 inches tall and are beautifully detailed. I love the bride's little birdcage veil. They also have a number of other equally adorable cake topper sets in their shop.

Wish they had a donkey set I could feature as well. Ooh election season.

Cake Toppers by The Small Object

This next topper is just adorable. They are hand made by Sarah Neuburger at the Small Object on etsy. These wooden clothespin dolls are also fully customizable (see picture and listing for all options). Basic customizable options are hair colors, flower color, suit color and style and ribbon color on the base. I just can't get over how sweet their faces are. They also have a number of pre-made sets.

Cake Toppers by Goose Grease

Today I'll be featuring my favorite cake topper sets from etsy. There are so many beautiful ones but in my opinion, these are the best of the best.

The first set is by Goose Grease. These darling hand painted wooden toppers are completely custom from the hair to the clothes to the accessories. And they are VERY reasonably priced for a custom cake topper set of this quality. They could work in a very modern wedding or a very crafty wedding. They would be so cute on a shelf or dresser as a keepsake from the big day after the wedding is all over. They also do "child size" wooden dolls. How sweet would it be have children made to add to the family as your family grows.
